Sonic The Hedgehog 3

Continuing directly from the previous adventure, this installment sees the Death Egg crash onto the mystical floating island known as Angel Island. Sonic and Tails give chase to Dr. Robotnik, who is recovering his ship and seeking the island's ancient power source, the Master Emerald. A guardian of the island, the echidna Knuckles, distrusts the newcomers and works to keep them from the jewel, adding a rival to the conflict. Players race through zones like the angelic Angel Island Act and the molten Lava Reef, gathering the Chaos Emeralds to unlock Super transformations. The story sets up the dramatic two-part conclusion that Sonic & Knuckles would bring, introducing Knuckles as a memorable opponent-turned-ally.
